Job Vacancy – Postural Stability Instructor with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust
If you are passionate about providing a service which can directly impact older people, then this role, working within our Falls Prevention team is for you.
Covid-19 has had a significant impact on the older, more vulnerable population who are finding they have had little opportunity for essential exercise. We are seeking someone who is able to support in one-to-one and group sessions to enable our service users to improve their mobility and reduce the likelihood of falls.
The team is headed up by a physiotherapist and provides support to people in their own homes who are at risk of falling. As a consequence of Covid, we are also aiming to develop a class-based programme for those people who have become deconditioned over lock-down and are keen to rebuild strength.
You will have a good knowledge of falls prevention and of the main falls risks; and be competent in delivering Otago-based exercise programmes with a minimum of 1 years’ experience. You should be able to recognise when an onward referral is required. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to build strong connections both with organisational and community colleagues and service users. You will be expected to travel across Hillingdon on a regular basis and therefore you must be a car driver and owner.
Successful applicants are required to have the qualification level specified in the person specification in order to carry out the job, however, we do welcome applicants from individuals wishing to further their knowledge and skills and to gain this recognised qualification, which we will support. So, if you do not have the essential qualification for the role, this may not be an automatic barrier to you being offered an interview.
