Dawn Skelton and Bob Laventure, in their roles working for Glasgow Caledonian University and the BHF National Centre for Physical Activity and Health, co-hosted the 8th World Congress on Active Ageing following the Olympic Games, in August 2012. The 4½ day conference was an exciting opportunity for researchers to meet practitioners and older people themselves. There was a vibrant scientific seminar and workshop series but also a large “Experience Zone” where older people, leisure and health professionals, could try out different forms of exercise and activity together.
